Rainbarrel
During the purchasing process the inspector (http://www.viinspections.info/ who did a great job btw) revealed a number of potentially problematic issues. One of the things noted was that an exterior downspout drain might be failing. Last week I noticed some moisture in the basement, went into panic mode and finally called Rite-way Water Proofing. They came out performed a diagnostic inspect and recommended several courses of action for downspout diversion and drain (standard combined with french) installation. When they left all sense of panic was gone.
Next week they will be out to divert a downspout under a walk way on the east (high) side of the property. This should help move water away from the foundation and relieve some hydrostatic pressure from the foundation. In the long run they might be back to help water proof the basement during finishing and to potentially install some additional drains.
In the mean time I installed a rain barrel with a soaker hose which diverts water away from the foundation on the other side of the house. To do this I laid down a couple 6×6x18 bricks to create a 24×24 pad, cut the downspout and placed the barrel on the pad. I then chiseled a hole in the brick to route the hose under the pad so in case anyone tripped over the hose they wouldn’t pull over the barrel. Finally I used a rough piece of brick to cover the old drain hole.

Hi, nice posts there
thank’s for the interesting information
